Description: A Bronze Age to Roman copper alloy awl, probably dating to c. 2,400 BC - AD 410. A bar of copper alloy with a circular sectioned point at one end, transitioning into a square section at the mid point, the other point is flattened in profile forming a probable tang. Length 64.4mm; Width 3.9mm; Thickness 3.6mm; weight 3.66g. Comparable awls are found as Grave goods from the Beaker period onwards, although these tend to be slightly more defined in form. Outside of an archaeological context an undiagnostic find cannot be dated precisely.
