Description: A medieval to post-medieval (1350-1720) copper-alloy double oval buckle frame, incomplete insofar as much of the pin is missing. The loops are slightly angled upwards from the central bar which is triangular in cross-section, being flat to the reverse. The pin is damaged consists of a flat rectangular wire loop around the axis bar (old damage). The buckle is small in size, which may suggest it was used as a shoe buckle. It measures 23.2 mm in length, 17.2 mm wide and 1.5 mm thick. The pin is 0.7 mm thick. The object weighs 1.89g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead (1996; no. 294), very broadly dated to 1350-1720. It is also similar to PAS record HAMP-8AC146.
