POWDER MEASURE 287929

POWDER MEASURE 287929
Description: A squashed cast lead-alloy powder holder cap of 17th-century date. The base is oval in plan, and includes the (now bent) cap loops which would have been attached to the bandolier (a belt with small loops worn across the chest by soldiers) (Courtney 1988, 2). There is a moulded rim at the other end. There are some small losses: one to the side above one of the loops, the other one the rim. The artefact has corroded to an off-white colour, with some underlying grey visible.
