FLAKE 244257

FLAKE 244257
Description: A prehistoric flint waste flake with evidence of retouching for use probably as a scraping tool. The flake is an irregular five-sided shape. It features an obvious bulb of percussion. A large loss on the dorsal face at the proximal end, above the bulb, hints at the fact that this flake may have had impurities which mitigated against its potential as a tool. Most of the evidence of retouch is on the wavy left side of the dorsal face. The flint is light grey in colour with some patches of whiter weathering and some iron staining, but no remaining cortex.
