BUCKLE 145262

Description: Incomplete copper alloy post medieval double oval buckle frame, missing its pin. The frame has a crack across it to one side of the axis bar. The axis bar extends beyond the frame in a flat foliate knop. The outside edge of the frame is ornate, again with some foliate pattern and a more linear pattern of horizontal lines around the mid point of the outside edge, where the pin would have rested. The frame is D-shaped in section, being flat on the underside. It measures 37.9x32.8mm (internal loops c.12x20mm) and weighs 6.61g. Late 16th/ early 17th century.
