Description: Body sherd of Late Roman New Forest colour coated ware beaker, with 'pinched'/ thumb decoration. This sherd is from a convex part of the beaker. The fabric is sandy and yellowy in colour, the slip a reddish brown in colour. It is decorated with four hoizontal ribs and three grooves between. The beaker would have been made at local kilns in Fordingbridge or Rockbourne, Hampshire. Dates from late third to the end of the fourth century. Measures 21.2x27x2.9mm and weighs 2.34g.
