Albert Sque of New Milton

Albert Sque lived in New Milton and died on 1 July 1916,  the first day of the Battle of the Somme.  He is remembered on the War Memorial in New Milton and buried at Thiepval Memorial in France.

Additional information:

Albert Sque (Service No: 14812) was a Private in the1st Bn. Hampshire Regiment. His brothers included Mark and Ralph. His nephew was born the following year and took the name Albert as his middle name. Alberts family were from New Milton in the New Forest and were market gardeners.

Wesley Henry Sque POW

Wesley Henry Sque was from the New Forest.  He is remembered on Burley War Memorial.  He was a prisoner of War at Worms Hochheim and sadly in the last weeks of the war he died of dysentery 22 October 1918.

Wesley Henry Sque (Service No: 29295) was a Private in the 6th Bn. Somerset Light Infantry and died aged 20.
