Anti tank obstacles (removed)
Author: William Ward
A neat line of regular parch marks seen on 14th July 2013, indicating the former site of a line of anti-tank obstacles (described as Elephants teeth” in the Crofton papers), likely either anti-tank blocks or pimples. The parch marks were approximately 3 feet square and 3-4 feet apart. There were 10 in total stretching between the road and river bank.
This all formed part of the Beaulieu Anti-Tank Island which you can read more about: Here
13 July 2018 saw these parch marks return, new photos uploaded.
