Description: An incomplete Early medieval copper alloy strap distributor, probably dating to c. AD 1000-1100. The objects consists of a central, hollow boss, from which radiate four arms; three of which survive. Oval loops survive at the terminal of two of these arms, with rounded knops projecting from each angle. Each extant arm is sub rectangular in cross section with slightly bevelled edges. Dimensions: the raised, dome-like, central boss is 17mm in height, 18.45mm in diameter, 5mm thick; each terminal 21mm x 15.5mm, 3.63mm thick; the arms c 9mm in length, 6mm thick; the object overall: length 56mm; width 44mm; weight 41.89g. cf Williams (2007: 5) fig. 6f, as well as examples on this database such as NMS-14C0D0.
