BRIDLE BIT 840357

Description: A fragment of a probable copper alloy cheek piece of late early-medieval date (Williams Type 2). The piece is flat and very abraded. One end terminates in a knop which then flattens and widens to what may be the beginnings of a circular loop. This loop appears to have had a central bar. The piece is 37mm in length, 23.2mm at its widest point and 3.7mm thick. It weighs 9.93 g.
