Description: A cast copper-alloy lower guard or quillon from a dagger dating to the medieval period. It has a central oval perforation for the tang to pass through. Seen from above, looking down through the hole, it is an elongated oval. On the underside the hole flares out to become a long and thin pointed oval, to accommodate the top of a double-edged blade.
Most dagger guards of this type are long and thin in side view; compare YORYM-E8D9F2, WMID-BBEC88, SF-BDCB85, YORYM-11276E and SUSS-A6ADE2.
