Description: A copper-alloy medieval whittle-tang knife hilt plate, dating to the period c. AD 1100 - 1400. The hilt plate is lozengiform in plan with a broadly oval perforation in the middle. The plate is complete. It measures 29.04mm in length, 9.41mm in maximum width, 1.83mm minimum width and weighs 1.08g. The hilt plate is similar to cf no. 644 in Read, 2001, pg. 88.
