Description: A copper alloy post medieval crotal bell dating to the period c.AD 1600 -1800. The bell comprises two hemispherical domes with a raised circumferential join. The upper hemisphere has two circular sound holes with a rectangular suspension loop projecting from the top between them. The lower hemisphere has a long, wide sound slit with circular sound holes at either end. The lower hemisphere is decorated with a sunburst design consisting of a series of incised grooves radiating from either side of the sound slit. The founder's mark is illegible as part of the lower hemisphere is missing. The bell is 30.34mm in diameter around the circumferential join, 45.17mm high and weighs 25.62g.
