UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT 727883
Description: A post-medieval copper alloy unidentified object, apparently a lid and possibly from an inkwell or object of similarly small size. It is circular in shape and trapezoidal in cross-section, with angled edges and a slightly hollowing at the centre of the reverse. From one edge project two oval loops with a 2.8mm diameter piercing. These are angled downwards, below the object.
Much of the original patina has been lost and the surface is now rough to touch. Where it survives, between the loops, it is shiny and smooth and dark green in colour.
The object measures 39.7mm in length, 30.7mm in max.width and diameter, 10.5mm in max.depth at the loops and 5.7mm in thickness across the circular area. It weighs 29.30g.
