BROOCH 601014

Description: A fragment of a copper alloy Roman (AD c.43-410) penannular brooch, missing its pin and two thirds to three quarters of the hoop. The fragment measures 28.35mm in length, 4.75mm in width and 10.70mm in thickness. It weighs 2.56g. The hoop is sub-circular in section, measuring 3.95mm in diameter. The fragment terminates with a circular endcap 4.90mm in diameter and 2.25mm long. The end surface is flat. Decoration consists of seven transverse grooves on the front face near the complete terminal.
