Description: An incomplete Initial T-shaped brooch with hinge mechanism, missing the pin-shank and the curl of the catchplate. The brooch measures 60.81mm in length and weighs 4.7g. The tubular wing span is 21.35mm and c.3-4mm in diameter. They are apparently plain with just a diagonal moulding at the juncture with the bow. One open end has a white substance within it, the other has iron corrosion. To the reverse the head of the pin is bent to one side of the pin slot. The bow extends from the front of the wings with a slight hump and is D-shaped in cross-section, 5.90x3.63mm. Below the bow has been squashed almost flat and has lost its curve. It narrows to a circular cross-section (c.2.5mm diameter) above the catchplate and further narrows to 0.67mm thick at the foot. The catchplate damage is old and worn.
