Description: Incomplete Roman (AD 50-150) copper alloy T-shape or dolphin brooch (Colchester derivative), missing its pin, lower bow and part of one wing. It measures 37.34mm in length, 31.85mm in width and weighs 14.06g. The wings are tubular and the complete wing swells at one end (from 5.00mm diameter to 6.59mm diameter). To the front are the worn remains of transverse moulded ribs. At the reverse is a slot for the pin, filled with iron corrosion from the lost pin. The bow is flat and 11.68x4.88mm where it extends from the wings. It narrows to 6.76x3.89 at the (old) break, where it is pointed oval in cross-section. The bow, which is also worn, is decorated with c.4 longitudinal grooves.
