Description: Incomplete Medieval copper alloy cast one-piece button with broken integral drilled shank and damaged outside edge. It weighs 8.4g.
The button is discoidal, solid and slightly plano-convex. It is 22.92mm in diameter and decorated to the front with a centrally punched dot/ hole around which is a single concentric circle. A further concentric circle lies between this and the outside edge.
The shank survives to a length of 3.5mm and the internal piercing of the loop is c.2.5mm in diameter.
Probably 15th century in date, although this style of shank does extend into the 18th century. Cf. Read 2005 p.11 no. 24.
