BROOCH 200428

Description: Incomplete Late Roman to Early Early-Medieval copper alloy penannular brooch of Fowler type D. The pin is missing. The brooch is circular in cross section and the pin is missing. It measures 32mm in diameter, 2mm in thickness and it weighs 2.7g. The terminals of the brooch have been flattened and widened formings a foot with three toes on each. The toes are made by two grooves on each of the terminals. The toes stand at right angles to the frame. cf. Hattatt, 1989, no 1291 and find WILT-C52454 on the database.
