MOUNT 199923

Description: A small copper-alloy mount of oval form. The object is largely flat but the edges on the upper surface are bevelled. There is a central perforation for attachment (Dia.: 2.7mm), possibly to the tang of a whittle tang knife. A fine crack now emerges from the hole and travels to the edge. Linear removals around the hole create a lozengiform effect on the upper surface. A medieval date can be suggested for this artefact.
