CLOTH SEAL 141411
Description: A complete post-medieval cast lead cloth seal probably of 17th-century date. A two-part seal joined by a loop, disc 1 (Dia.: c. 18.4mm) bears a mark which is difficult to discern due to the rivetting process, possibly a privy mark. Around it is a possible legend in which any lettering is difficult to discern; perhaps the numerals '16' can be seen. Disc 2 bears a deep incuse pair of letters - 'V' and 'C' - perpendicular to which has been scratched '20' (one side) and '4' (on the other) in Arabic numerals. Such a personal clothiers'/weavers'/searchers' seal is very difficult to date precisely.
