STRAP END 140471
Description: A worn, but largely complete, medieval composite strap-end with stylised collared acorn knop terminal. Cast in copper-alloy, the spacer plate is approximately 26.9mm in length. The pair of plain flanking sheet plates are worn and abraded; one considerably more then the other. They are sub-rectangular, with triangular ends towards the terminal. They are riveted at their lower end to the spacer. They are also riveted to each other at the attachment end. Similar strap-ends can be found illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (1991, 144; fig. 94) and date to the 14th or 15th centuries AD
