VESSEL 134865

VESSEL 134865
Description: Medieval/ early post medieval copper alloy vessel leg and foot, standing 60.9mm high, recentish break. The leg is rounded at the back-sides, and flatter down the centre-back. To the front a prominent rib runs down the centre, the areas to either side dipping slightly before meeting the outside edges. The leg projects into a short foot with a prominent central toe (there is a gap or gash between leg-rib and toe, perhaps not intentional but caused at time of casting). Of the other toes, one is missing (again, probably a casting error) and the other is just an extension of the leg-edge. It 'hangs down' slightly and between it and the central toe the line of the metal curves upward. On the other side the foot is too damaged to show this, but the reverse of these areas shows a backwards outward curving, so in section they are D-shaped. Maximum width 36.8mm (at break), 33.6mm at ankle and 35.6mm at foot). Maximum thickness 12.5mm. Weighs 101.77g.
