Description: Letter in response to a claim of a 'custom' whereby turf tickets are issued to occupiers of houses with a right of turbary and to refuse such ticket to the owner of the house when he is not in residence. The Verderers commented that this would be in variance with the law on the subject and ruled that the owner of the house is also the owner of the turf rights. The Verderers also commented upon the need to respect the legitimate rights of Commoners.
