STRAP END 99545
Description: Copper alloy object, most likely a strap end of Medieval date. The object is incomplete and comprises a single sheet, generally rectangular, although tapering slightly toward the rounded terminal. The object is broken off at one end. At approximately the mid-way point the object thickens slightly. Just after this thickening there are three unevenly spaced transverse grooves. There is a possible rivet hole on the thinner section of the object. The reverse is flat and there are traces of iron corrosion. Patchy dark-green and reddish-brown patina.
