Description: A fragment of a Roman copper alloy bracelet, dating to c AD 43-410. The bracelet is plano-convex in cross section, truncated by an old break at one end from which it tapers towards an incomplete loop or eye at the opposite end. An incised, double-stranded transverse collar precedes the break at the wide end, with traces of incised cross-hatching below. The eye-terminal is delineated by a more shallowly incised double-stranded collar. .
Dimensions: 48.73mm in length; 6.91mm in width, tapering to 3.75mm; 2.63mm thick, tapering to 1.44mm at the narrower end; 4.97g in weight. The curve of the metal strip suggests an original diameter of c 60mm.
