Description: An incomplete copper alloy Medieval buckle and plate, dating to cAD1200-1400. The buckle plate is rectangular, recessed at the fold to accommodate a buckle with an offset bar. There is a punched circular aperture below the fold to accommodate a lost pin. There are a pair of rivet holes at the attachment end punched from alternate sides. There is a third punched rivet hole, positioned off centre below the pin-aperture, retaining a separate copper alloy rivet. The surviving section of the buckle frame comprises of the off-set bar only.
Dimensions: 35.60mm in length; 18.77mm in width; it weighs 8.3g.
