Description: A Medieval copper alloy annular buckle dating from c AD 1250 - 1400. The buckle frame is circular in plan and oval in cross section and is without decoration. There is no constriction for the pin and just a slight notch or area of wear where the tip of the pin rests. The copper alloy pin is sub oval in section with an open loop to attach it to the frame. There is a transverse collar below the loop and a slight depression in profile preceding the point of the pin. The buckle is 35.16mm in diameter; the hoop is 3.59mm thick; it is 11.8g in weight. cf Egan and Pritchard (1991: 58) no. 36.
