BUCKLE 943900
Description: An incomplete Medieval copper alloy buckle with integral plate, possibly a spur buckle, probably dating to c. AD 1200-1500. The buckle consists of a flat oval frame with a circular hole to accommodate the pin, still in place. There is no separate pin bar, the frame extends into a bar which is plano-convex in cross section, and curves and projects away from the buckle. This subsequently expands into a sub-rectangular plate, before the bar continues from the opposite edge of this plate, ending in an old break. The sub-rectangular plate is sub-triangular in cross section, with a point projecting from its face.
Dimensions: length 46mm; width 12.58mm; thickness 2.65mm; weight 5.9g.
