COIN 932672

Description: A Roman copper alloy nummus probably of the House of Theodius, dating to AD 388-402 (Reece Period 21). Probably VICTORIA AVGGG reverse type, depicting victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm. Uncertain mint. Despite the lack of inscription, the small size and weight of this coin would support its identification as a Theodosian coin, rather than the more common Valentinianic SECVRITAS REI PVBLICAE of Reece Period 19. Other coins of Reece period 21 have also been found in the vicinity of the findspot.
