STRAP END 886102
Description: A medieval to post-medieval copper-alloy strap end dating to c 1450-1600. The strap end is made in two pieces each with concave edges so that the sides curve round and join to the other plate. The strap end has a long plain top section which gradually narrows towards the end where it curves in to create a waist before flaring out. The lower flared section is then flat at the bottom and in the centre there is a terminal knop in the shape of a trefoil with a central acorn. There is a small rivet through the trefoil and a second towards the top of the plain top section. At the top of the plain section, there is evidence of damage to the top rim. Just below the rim there is an oval hole pierced through both plates. There is evidence of two small rivet heads side by side above the oval hole. In the flared section at the bottom there are two holes pierced through both plates.
