Description: A copper-alloy thimble of closed construction, dating from the early post-medieval period (c. 1500 - 1700). The crown is shallowly domed and the walls below flare to the open end. A spiral of drilled sub-square pits (probably) start at the centre of the crown and continue around the walls to the base; corrosion product obscures on the crown. The walls of the thimble are thin (1 mm thick). The thimble is very squashed and has a 'diameter' at the open end of 23.2 x 1.4mm. The diameter of the crown is 12.77 mm. The object stands at 20.7 mm high and weighs 1.78 g. The metal is a dull dark red-brown in colour, with patches of light-green/off-white corrosion present in the indentations.
