Description: An incomplete copper-alloy late medieval to early post-medieval purse bar, dating to the period c AD 1450 - 1550. It measures 55.32mm in length and at its maximum width, it measures 6.68mm. The purse bar is broadly circular in cross-section, and the width (or diameter) of most of the item is just under 5mm but it tapers from 5.34mm to 4.47mm. There is an old break at both ends of the item, one of them at the point where there was a pierced feature. There is a further U shape integral suspension loop, approximately 28.68mm further along the length of the bar. The lower part of the loop has broken off. It weighs 7.24g.
