Description: A fragment of a copper-alloy medieval horse harness fitting, dating to the period AD 1100-1500. The fragment comprises of an intact hoop, 21.18mm in diameter, and a broadly rectangular attachment, measuring 25.84mm in width and 54.15mm wide. In total, the horse harness fitting measures in total 64.16mm in length, 63.54mm wide and 5.72mm thick. It is undecorated on both sides. The flat surface plate is 3.69mm thick, and has three flayed edges at the base with three grooved ridges giving an uneven and undulating texture. The flat surface plate extends further downwards to a bulbous, ridged terminal. The far side, as it curls up towards the neck and hoop attachment, has been broken in antiquity.
Overall, the horse harness fitting has a smooth patina and is mid green in colour, weighing 27.51g.
