HARNESS PENDANT 83548

Description: Copper alloy horse harness pendant of medieval date. At the top there is a suspension loop attached, broadly D-shaped in section. The pendant thickens at the junction with the suspension loop. The pendant is in the form of a scallop shell. The upper surface bears raised decoration in the form of four oblique lines radiating from the top of the pendant to the outer edge. Traces of gilding survive on the upper surface below the suspension loop. The reverse is concave and undecorated. Patchy mid-green and redish-brown patina.
