Description: Copper alloy mount of medieval date. The mount is an elaborate quatrefoil shape. The upper surface is slightly convex upper surface and the reverse is flat so that it is broadly D-shaped in section. The upper surface has a plain, slightly raised border (approx. W. 3.30mm). Set within the border is a raised letter I flanked by a six petalled flower either side and another motif underneath, possibly a shield or another flower. The area between the border and design is partially filled with dark blue enamel and on one flower there are traces of red enamel. On the reverse in the centre there is a single large, blunt circular sectioned integral rivet (D. 4.86mm) which protrudes approximately 9.10mm. Patchy dark green and brown patina.
