PIN 816917
Description: A cast copper alloy stud or pin head dating to the later Iron Age or early Roman period. The stud has a biconvex oval head with a central ring with an integral shank beneath, broken off at an early date immediately below the pin head. The head is 22.18mm in length, 12.84mm in width and c6.50mm thick. The shank appears also to have been oval in section, c6.58mm x 5.57mm. It may have been a box or furniture fitting (handle), but studs or pins similar to this have been identified as pins. This example is heavily abraded and has a pale and dark grey patina. It weighs 10.86g.
