BRACELET 814375
Description: A fragment of a cast copper-alloy Roman bracelet, probably from the c 3rd-4th centuries AD. The bracelet is circular in cross-section, is solid-cast and has grooves perhaps intended to imitate small rectanglar shaped beads (c 2.5mm in length) alternating with a narrow groove between them. Although beaded examples are found dating to the Late Iron Age, those examples are frequently hollow, with enlarged beadwork. The fragment measures 41.99mm in length, and the hoop is 4.35mm in diameter. Crenellated bracelets similar tro this are considered late Roman 250 - 410AD. The length still extant suggests a bracelet originally with diameter slightly in excess of 60mm. The fragment weighs 5.25g.
