BUCKLE 811832
Description: A medieval to post-medieval (1350-1600) copper-alloy double oval buckle frame. It is incomplete in so far as it is missing its pin.
The outside edge of the loops is angled outwards and downwards and has a transverse notch at the centre, for the pin. The pin bar is triangular in cross-section. The buckle is small in size, which may suggest it was used as a shoe buckle. It measures 20.1mm in length, 16.7mm in width, 1.6mm in thickness and weighs 1.28g.
A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead (1996; no. 294), very broadly dated to 1350-1720. It is also similar to HAMP-8AC146.
