Description: An incomplete medieval to post-medieval (1350-1650) copper alloy annular buckle frame with a central bar and sheet pin (of a different copper alloy to the frame). The frame is triangular in cross-section, being flat to the underside with a convexly-curved upper edge. The central bar is rectangular in cross-section (2.6x2.3mm). The frame has no decoration and a smooth and shiny dark green patina. It measures 23.8mm in diameter, the internal loops measuring c.8x17mm. The pin has a smooth, olive green patina, is rectangular in cross-section and curves around the bar at its wider end (3.7mm), narrowing to a point at the opposite end, which rests on the frame. Complete with pin (which extends slightly beyond the edge of the frame), the buckle measures 24.5mm in length, 23.8mm in width, 5.4mm in thickness and weighs 3.27g. Similar annular buckles have been illustrated (Whitehead 2003: 44-45).
