Description: An incomplete copper alloy post-medieval double loop asymmetrical buckle frame, missing its pin. The buckle frame has one D-shaped loop and one rectangular loop and extremely worn, the metal now a purplish brown in colour and pitted, with all original patina missing. The strap bar expands at either end in a triangular formation before it meets the frame. The buckle measures 33.9mm long, 35.6mm wide and 2.4mm thick. The internal loop dimensions are 11.3-12.9mm x 30.7-31.0mm. It weighs 4.56g. Similar double loop asymmetrical buckles are published in Whitehead (1996) p.90-1, which the author dates to c.1575-1700.
