BUCKLE 804303

Description: A post-medieval (1550-1650) copper alloy double oval buckle frame, incomplete in so far as it is missing its pin. It has a triangular moulding at either end of the axis bar, against the frame, and a triangular moulding at the centre of the outside edge of each loop. The buckle measures 36.8mm in length, 25.9mm in width, 2.5mm in thickness and weighs 5.60g. All original patina is missing. Cf. Whitehead, 2003; ff.61, a type he dates to c.1550-1650.
