Description: A medieval copper alloy single loop rectangular buckle frame with plate dating to AD 1200-1400. The buckle is broadly rectangular, the outer edge of the loop is orval in cross section and slightly narrowed in contrast to the edges of the frame. The edges of the frame curve outwards slightly and are rectangular in cross section. The pin bar is narrowed and the pin survives. The plate is formed from a single rectangular copper-alloy sheet which has been folded over the pin bar. There is a central recess for the pin. At the tip of the plate are two incomplete circular perforations which would have held rivets. The buckle and plate measures 36.05mm in length, 21.6mm wide, 3.67mm thick and weighs 4.81 grams.
