ANNULAR BROOCH 801646
Description: A complete medieval annular brooch dating to c. AD 1200-1400. The brooch is lozengeform and D shaped in cross section. The recess to hold the pin is located at one corner, foliate decoration (possible fleur de lis) are located at the remaining three corners. There is no evidence of surviving gilding on the front face, traces of gilding are located to the reverse. The remainder of the reverse is flat.
The pin is slightly bent and has a horizontal raised band before tapering to the point.
The brooch is 19.4mm in length, 21.75mm wide, 3.7mm thick and weighs 1.91 grams.
