Description: A medieval copper alloy single loop buckle frame complete with sheet copper alloy pin. The frame is sub-rectangular in shape, with an incurved outside edge and one of the short edges extending at an angle. At the centre of the outside edge two diagonal grooves are arranged in a V-shape. Beyond each are a further 3-4 diagonal grooves lying parallel to the original. The pin is formed from a rectangular piece of copper alloy, curled around the bar and with the edges rolled inwards towards the tip to give an elongated triangular shape. The patina of both frame and pin is dark brown, smooth and and shiny.
It measures 23.1mm in length, 37.4mm in width and 2.9mm in max.thickness. It weighs 5.81g. Cf. Whitehead (1996) no.173, which he dates to the late 14th/ 15th century.
