Description: An incomplete medieval copper alloy buckle plate or strap-end, dating probably c.1250-1450. It consist of an incomplete sub-rectangular sheet with narrowing long edges and an old break at the short end (17.2mm wide). The reverse has traces of solder while the front is decorated with grooved zig-zag lines along the long edges. The wider, complete end (20.7mm wide) has a rivet hole in each corner (one retaining a corroding iron rivet, the other broken through to the edge of the object) and between and three-quarters circle cut-out from the edge. The object has been folded transversely across the middle and has lost its patina here - the patina is otherwise dark green, smooth and shiny. There is recent damage at the shorter end.
The object measures 36.6mm in length, 20.7mm in max.width, 1.3mm in thickness and weighs 3.81g.
