Description: An incomplete early 18th century lead 4-part alnage seal of George I (1714-27), consisting of discs two and three and their interconnecting strip only. The edges are damaged (recent) and the beginning of a projection into discs one and four is visible diametrically opposite the surviving connecting strip. the two surviving discas are slightly offset from each other. The cloth seal weighs 2.51g and measures 15.1mm in length, 13.5mm in width and 2.9mm in thickness. The individual discs measure missing // 13.4mm // 12.1mm // missing. (missing) // bust of George right // orb surmounted by cross and with jewelled bands, I to side // (missing) Disc three can be compared with one of Queen Anne in Egan 1994, 65, ref. 146 while disc two can be compared with ref. 154 (ibid.). In record IOW-182085 the author writes that the alnage ended in 1724, so this cloth seal can be dated 1714-24.
