FINGER RING 776876
Description: A gold medieval finger ring dating to the 15th century. It is a double (bipartite) ring, 22.14mm in diameter. The hoop is 7.32mm wide. There are no hallmarks. On the inside of the hoop joye sanz fyn (joy without end) is inscribed.
The outside of the ring shows signs of wear, with some of the incised decoration difficult to identify but the main part is a series of saltire crosses (with diamond or lozenge shapes between) created where closely grouped parallel lines cross the junction between the rings. These lines are filled with small pellet-like decoration. The areas between these features are decorated but it is not possible to say what the decoration is.
The finger ring 22.15mm in diameter and weighs 7.3 grams
