Description: A complete copper alloy post medieval crotal bell dating to the 16th to mid 17th century. The bell is complete and contains a small ball and rings when shaken.
The bell is spherical with a rectangular suspension loop at the top. In the top half of the sphere, a circular hole has been cut or cast on either side of the loop. Around the circumference, there is a raised ridge. The lower half of the bell has a long straight opening ending in a circular hole at each end, each just below the raised circumferential ridge. The bell is 30.45mm in diameter, and with the loop included, the height is 40.15mm. The bell weighs 34.86 g. It has a dark grey patina. No decoration can be seen.
