Description: A medieval cast copper alloy buckle plate (buckle missing) dating to AD1350 - 1450. The plate is made up of a folded sheet with two circular rivet holes in line along the length of the plate (one with rivet in situ) and a third rectangular hole, in line with the two rivet holes, for the buckle pin. There is a pin bar, or the base of a buckle hoop , in place in the fold of the plate. The corners of the plate are slightly rounded, and the metal is cut away at the fold so that the plate narrows either side of the pin hole. The whole item is crusted and abraded, it is not possible to say if there is any decoration. It is 26.87mm long, 15.04mm wide, cut to 11.39mm wide at the buckle end. It weighs 6.64g.
